Whoa, I always suspected that a liftoff in a spaceship isn't as smooth as they depict it in those science fiction movies. After all, the ship has to accelerate more than ... what? Gravitation? Or something else? I don't know and I don't care. I'm in a sleek, no-frills spaceship being shaken literally to the bone. I just found it standing in my backyard. Hopping in, sitting in the comfortable captain's chair and pressing the "START"-button didn't require much thinking. The chill of last night's rain has not yet been overcome by the rising sun when he steps out of the house and crosses the tiny garden. He swears under his breath, buttoning his jacket with one hand, oblivious to the sounds of the birds singing in the trees and the scent of the flowers. He puts down the heavy bag he is carrying and fumbles with the latch of the gate of the fence, the way he always does.
